{How To:} Printing and Tiling your Patterns

Printing and tiling your Print at Home Pattern is easy. I have found that using a paper trimmer is the quickest way to trim your printed sheets ready for tiling! But scissors are fine too.

Patterns have been made to fit both US letter and International A4 paper sheets. Upon receiving your digital Pattern and Instructions, open the supplied files in Adobe Acrobat Reader, this is available as a free downloadable PDF reader from adobe.com. Or for those using a Mac platform you can open the files in Preview.

Print your Pattern and Instructions (if required) by accessing the "File" menu at the top left hand of your screen and select "Print"
Or use the keyboard shortcut : Command /Ctrl P
Make sure that Page Scaling is set to "None".  For those using Adobe Acrobat:

For those using Preview:

Trim each sheet to the bounding box and grey underlapp area. Or to save time trim the sides of the page without the grey underlapp area only.

Using a paper trimer lets you trim more than one page at a time.

Align each printed sheet with the corresponding marker and grid lines, tape to secure. I find it easier to tile the sheets into rows first then join the rows together.

Tip for storing your patterns:  I like to use a specific hole punch for pattern makers called a rabbit punch, to punch a large hole through the base of my pattern pieces, then using a pattern hook like the ones below thread your pattern pieces on to the hook and hang it up in a closet. Alternatively, fold your patterns, and store in a plastic sheet protector in a pretty file!
