Hi, I've got the kimono dress pattern but I'm needing to line it, should I just make two of the dress and sew them together? Also, do you really need the little opening at the back or can you slip it over your head without it?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Sam
Dear Sam, Thanks for your comment, Yes its quite easy to line; cut the bodice and skirt pieces out of the lining, and sew each up separately at the centre back, you can eliminate the back opening as it does slip over the head quite easily, attached the bodice lining to the neck, then turn right way round, under stitch to help secure the neckline and keep the lining turned to the inside, then with the bodice right side out slip your hand between the shell and the lining to grab the armholes and pull through to be able to sew them together ( do one at a time) as with lining you can eliminate the armhole facings, repeat for the other side, tuck it all back in, turn the shell skirt wrong side out and align the waist, turn lining skirt inside out and tuck inside, aligning the waist and stitch as per instructions!
DeleteHope that helps, let me know if you need any help!
Hope it turns out great!
Hello! I would love to have the print it yourself version of the kimono dress pattern. It's gorgeous! I would also buy it if it's available.
